Hannah Genn - Chair
Hannah became a trustee in January 2019. She is a qualified children and families worker, working for a local church, St Pauls Shadwell. Hannah is passionate about young women being empowered to be all that they can be and is excited to be part of a charity working alongside these young women to help them realise their potential and raise their aspirations.

Barbara Workman - Treasurer
Barbara joined Canaan Project in 2020 being relatively new to London’s East End. She brings a wealth of knowledge about other cultures as she has lived in several countries which includes Eswatini (southern Africa), Monaco, Malaysia, Solomon Islands, Indonesia and the USA. She is experienced in admin processes and finance as she believes that when an organisation runs well behind the scene, its aims and goals are more likely to be achieved.

Lauren Gosling- Trustee
Lauren worked as a young women’s worker at Canaan until August 2022. After leaving, we missed her so much, we asked her to join the board! Lauren spent some years working as a professional dancer and teacher, and saw how dance as a tool can positively impact young people in particular, helping them find expression and creativity. Lauren is passionate about others finding their own voice and unique purpose. Most recently Lauren has been working with care leavers and refugees, providing key work on all aspects of wellbeing and helping them towards independent living. Lauren loves travelling, sunshine, being spontaneous and is currently on Maternity leave with her first baby!

Danielle Chamberlain- Secretary
Danielle joined the board in January 2019. After taking a brief break covering our project managers maternity leave Danielle rejoined the board as secretary in October 2022. Danielle is a qualified social worker and has lived in Tower Hamlets for over 10 years.

Naznin Robinson - Trustee
Naznin joined the board in August 2020. Born and raised in Bangladesh, Naznin brings with her a very good knowledge and understanding of Bangladeshi culture, as well as a passion and heart for the Bangladeshi community living in UK. She is a secondary school teacher and has been working in a secondary school in Tower Hamlets since 2012. As an active member of Tower Hamlets Community Church she has been serving the Bengali community through Bengali Christian Fellowship since 2013.

Beth Jennings - Trustee
Beth is a social worker and researcher. She has worked in the UK and Bangladesh with women and children experiencing homelessness, exploitation and human trafficking. She is passionate about seeing young women safe and with opportunities to grow. She started her social work career in Tower Hamlets and loves that it is a place where so many worlds meet

Tsitsi T.X Chirozva
Tsitsi is our newest recruit and joined the board in May 2023.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Tsitsi has called Tower Hamlets home since 2019. She has a background in HR and Corporate Social Responsibility and currently works for a South African based NGO supporting women and girls.
